Often planted around Fresno as our unfortunate drought continues. You can plant this shrub in any sunny location, even hot spots next to concrete or asphalt. It's a compact grower with greenish-gray leaves around short arching branches. Bright red 'brush' flowers appear in late spring to summer, this adds interest to any yard. It is a moderate grower at 3-4 feet tall and requires little to no pruning. What more could you ask for in a shrub?

You may recognize this particular rose from around Fresno. They stay mostly evergreen, flower nearly all year round, and have an abundance of white roses. This shrub only gets about 5 feet tall and wide, but does not have to be regularly maintained like most roses do. Plant in nearly any soil type and full sun exposure, plus this rose is also low water use once established.

A great all purpose shrub. Preferred for its dense, deep green foliage, it is ideal for hedges where privacy or tall borders are desired. Great for a low maintenance and durable shrub, it is also very clean and an excellent choice around pools. Keep pruned at any height up to 8 feet tall and fertilize regularly to maintain a deep green color.

They do not produce olives. This compact, lush evergreen shrub is one tough plant. It thrives in the sun, is low water use once established, and can be kept as a shrub, topiary, or small hedge plant. Adds color contrast to a landscape due to the silvery color on the underside of the leaves.

This foundation plant is really durable. Several varieties are available. They are evergreen, slow growing shrubs and bloom profusely in early spring. Indian Hawthorns are drought tolerant once established. Depending on the variety you select, they will have clusters of small pink or white flowers in early spring.
